The hat and the hound

A week ago we have had another joint shoot with Marten Collins; this time we were joint by His Highness the King of All Whippets - Zebedi. Zebedi (who usually resides with his humble subject Marten) makes one of the most elegant photographic props available out there. Beautiful, patient and very well-behaved - a mini greyhound is a must this season.
As is orange.

Podczas ostatniej sesji dołączył do nas Król Wszystkich Whippetów - Zebedi. Zeb (który na codzień mieszka ze swoim skromnym podwładnym Martenem Collinsem) jest zdecydowanie najelegantszym  dodatkiem kreacji Joanny. Piękny, cierpliwy, dobrze wychowany - w tym sezonie obowiązuje chart. 
I kolor pomarańczowy.

Colours overload - retreat!

We finally have the colourful pics (apologies for the delay!). Joanna’s idea was to pay tribute to Andy Warhol, who had been fascinated by pop culture, consumerism, supermarkets, colours and repeated patterns. It seems that we bit off a bit more than we could chew, however...

Adrian is not much of a Warhol fan, and does not like in-your-face colours and patterns – next time we will go back to his preferred photography style.

Nareszcie mamy kolorowe zdjęcia (przepraszamy za zwłokę!). Zamysłem Joanny było zrobienie fotek odwołujących się do Andyego Warhola – zafascynowanego popkulturą, konsumpcjonizmem, supermarketami, kolorami i powtarzalnością. Zadanie trochę nas przerosło...

Adrian niestety nie jest fanem Warhola, ani tym bardziej oczopląsu i przesyconych kolorów – więc w następnej sesji wrócimy do fotografii w jego stylu.

Colours come from:
- A charity shop skirt (originally Oasis)
- A blouse made from a Whistles dress, also bought in a charity shop
- A charity shop handbag
- A flower, which - in hindsight - might have been redundant here
- Ecco shoes
- A variety of Sainsbury's products.

I wanna be like...

Our first entry in 2011 - we took our time, we know and apologise! Some time ago we decided to do a photo shoot inspired by the headshots of Grace Kelly. It was challenging for both sides - Adrian only had one lamp instead of three, and Joanna had to look poised and graceful while holding a newspaper to help reflect light. Anyhow, here are the outcomes.

Nasz pierwszy wpis w 2011 roku - trochę nam to zajęło, wiemy i przepraszamy! Jakiś czas temu zachciało nam się sesji inspirowanej portretami Grace Kelly, co okazało się wyzwaniem dla nas obojga. Adrian musiał poradzić sobie z jedną lampą (zamiast trzech), a Joanna starała się wyglądać możliwie elegancko podtrzymując kawał gazety żeby doświetlić zdjęcie od dołu. A oto rezultaty.

Little Black Birthday Dress (II)

Supposedly every elegant woman should have a few staple fashion essentials (the LBD, denim jeans, a trench coat, a cashmere cardigan, a classic white shirt...). Joanna doesn’t own any of the above. Instead, she cheats by using her personal fashion essentials, i.e. black tops (don’t ask how many she has...) and black skirts. This way she can have quite a few LBDs, each of different length, cut and character.

The photos were taken in our favourite Summertown Wine Cafe and we tried to give them a familiar 1960s touch.


Podobno kobieta elegancka powinna mieć w szafie kilka absolutnie niezbędnych sztuk odzieży (małą czarną, dżinsy, trencz, kaszmirowy sweterek, klasyczną białą koszulę...). Joanna nie posiada żadnej z nich. Musi zatem kombinować używając swoich osobistych modowych niezbędników, tj czarnych bluzek (nie pytajcie, ile ich ma) i czarnych spódnic. Dzięki nim można stworzyć dowolną liczbę LBD, o różnych długościach, dekoltach i fasonach.

Zdjęcia zostały zrobione w naszej ukochanej kafejce w Summertown. Staraliśmy się nadać im charakter lat 60tych.

Ten zestaw bierze udział w naszyjnikowym konkursie Mrs L. - Joanna ostrzy zęby na jasny naszyjnik, który kontrastowałby z czarną bluzką.

Coffee and wine

Since Oxford is still stubbornly rainy, we chose to have an indoor session with a slightly nostalgic, 60-ish feel to it. We took the photos at the Summertown Wine Cafe with the assistance of Adrian's very patient father.

Ponieważ w Oksfordzie nadal uparcie pada, zdecydowaliśmy się na sesję we wnętrzu Summertown Wine Cafe. Chcieliśmy zrobić zdjęcia lekko nostalgiczne, w klimacie lat 60tych. Dziękujemy tacie Adriana za pomoc i cierpliwość!

Adrian is using Pentax K10D with a Pentax 50mm SMC FA 1.4 lens. He tries to refrain from using strobes, but some pictures received extra fill light.
